Man, 86, missing in his pyjamas, found dead in nearby forest

An 86-year-old Victorian man has been found dead in a forest after wandering off in his pyjamas in below-zero weather.

The body of Thomas ‘Alex’ Thompson was found in bushland approximately 500 metres away from his home in Bright, four hours north-east of Melbourne.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious and are yet to establish Mr Thompson’s exact cause of death. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

It ends the desperate search for Mr Thompson, who went missing on Tuesday.

Bright police found Mr Thompson’s body after recommencing their search on Wednesday morning.
