Investigating officers arrested a man, 24, who was known to the boy, in a restaurant carpark a short time later and he was taken to Maitland Police Station before being transferred to the Mater Hospital for treatment.

He has since been taken to Belmont Police Station and charged with murder, and refused bail to appear at Belmont Local Court on Wednesday.

The means by which the 24-year-old allegedly killed the teen remain undisclosed.
