Man in his 20s set to retire with $10 million Christmas Day Oz Lotto windfall

While many Australians may have been nursing a food coma or enjoying new gifts on Christmas night, one young family man received some life-changing news.

The man in his twenties, from Hervey Bay in Queensland, was in utter disbelief when he found out he was the only division one winner nationally in Oz Lotto draw 1297 on December 25 – taking home a $10 million dollar prize.

“I didn’t really get much for Christmas, this was one of the only things, so it’s a pretty good present. It’s a Christmas I’ll never forget,” the winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, said.

He had just finished Christmas dinner with his family when he went online to check the results.

“To win on Christmas Day – that one day. I feel so lucky. I’ve never really won anything in my life.”

And this prize means he does not have to go back to work in the new year.

“I really can’t believe it. I’m retiring in my 20s!” he exclaimed.

The lucky man said he would use the huge windfall to set his family up for the future, adding they would buy a house.

“We just want to live comfortably for the rest of our lives and be happy,” the winner said.

“I might start some kind of business or something I want to do, but it means I won’t have to stress about it. That way it’s not so much a job but something I love to do and it’s not a worry,” he added.

The winning numbers in draw 1297 on Tuesday were 28, 4, 38, 11, 7, 32 and 33.

The supplementary numbers were 40 and 3.

The man bought his 12-game winning-entry online at thelott.com.
