An 18-year-old man has died after being struck by a public transit bus in Montreal's Plateau-Mont Royal borough Tuesday afternoon.

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) bus was turning left onto St-Denis Street from Rigaud Street when it hit the man who was crossing St-Denis on foot, said Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) spokesperson Sabrina Gauthier.

Police received a 911 call alerting them to the incident around 4:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they tried to perform CPR on the man but he was declared dead at the scene.

The SPVM has established a perimeter on St-Denis between Cherrier and Sherbrooke streets. Gauthier says the SPVM's collision squad will analyze the scene.
