Malaysian deported over abhorrent videos

A 43-year-old Malaysian man has been thrown out of Australia after abhorrent material was found on his mobile phone.

Australian Border Force said the man arrived at Perth International Airport on Wednesday on a tourist visa and officers who examined his bag found several videos containing extreme sexual depravity and violence on his phone.

They were deemed to contravene the standards of morality, decency and propriety under the Customs Prohibited Import Regulations, so officers seized the phone and cancelled his visa.

He was detained at the Perth Immigration Detention Centre until he was removed from Australia on Friday morning.

"We are constantly on the lookout for this sort of prohibited material, in addition to the terrible imagery involving child exploitation," acting regional commander for Western Australia, Mark Wilson, said in a statement.

"Videos depicting extreme sexual deviancy and acts of horrific violence are not acceptable in our community and anyone caught engaging in this behaviour risks forfeiting their right to be here."
