Police dealing with a suspected assault have closed a main road in Bristol.

Police and paramedics are responding to reports of a male being seriously assaulted and officers were called to the Stapleton Road area at about 17:45 BST, said Avon and Somerset Police.

The force said the road is closed in both directions and has asked members of the public to avoid the area to allow emergency services to access it.

"We are aware some people are filming emergency services at the scene and we’d politely request people do not post any footage on to social media while we respond to this incident," a police spokesperson said.
