Some in MAGA nation seem impressed by the credentials of the suspected Las Vegas Cybertruck bomber after news broke that he was a supporter of Donald Trump.

Earlier today, a senior law enforcement official told the Daily Beast that 37-year-old Matthew Livelsberger, who died in the explosion, was a “big” Trump fan and voted for him in November. Meanwhile, his uncle told The Independent that the Green Beret “loved Trump, and he was always a very, very patriotic soldier, a patriotic American.”

It didn’t take long for Trump faithful to hint at their newfound admiration for Livelsberger, whose attack outside a Trump hotel injured seven people.

The charge was led by none other than Matt Gaetz, the former Florida congressman who Trump picked to be his attorney general—before the bid flubbed amid allegations that Gaetz paid for sex with a minor.

“The Vegas dude seems like a real CHAD??,” Gaetz wrote shortly after it emerged that Liversberger was a Trump supporter, adding 14 minutes later: “So bizarre.”

“Chad” is an internet slang term that refers to an impressive, successful, or good-looking man.

User @lesadefrain, another self-described MAGA account, agreed with Gaetz’s characterization, responding, “Lol. Yes!”

An account whose profile photo featured a “Make America Great Again” hat, @TonyD713, made one amendment to Gaetz’s statement: “With a serious mental disorder.”

For others in MAGA nation, the only way to square his support for Trump with his alleged attack was seemingly to turn to conspiracy theories.

“Definitely a psyop,” wrote another MAGA user, @lecoder198496, in response to Gaetz, “it was the FBI - they always set up conservatives, it’s all they do.”

User @tiamat_slayer seemed to agree, writing, “None of this makes any sense to me whatsoever. Seems MK Ultra-ish”—a reference to the CIA’s secret experiments with mind control in the mid-20th century.

At least one MAGA user seemed at a loss with Gaetz’s comment, though. “I am trying to understand you,” wrote @geniusace. “Why?”

The account wound up resharing the post nonetheless.

Although the bomber’s motive remains unknown, law enforcement said Thursday that Liversberger shot himself in the head before the car exploded, leaving him “burnt beyond recognition.”

Contradicting federal officials, Clark County Sheriff Kevin McMahill also said that he had not ruled out a link between the bombing and the New Year’s Day car rampage that killed at least 15 in New Orleans.

He noted the “very strange similarities” between the two attacks, like the suspects' military background and their use of the Turo app to obtain the vehicles that served as weapons.
