The former hospitality manager recently announced the launch of his new business Mos x Daily, selling sustainably harvested premium sea moss from coral reefs.
Sea moss is the latest wellness trend going viral on TikTok and within celebrity culture, with Kim Kardashian, Rihanna and Cardi B swearing by the superfood.
Not only can it support your immune system and gut health, but it’s also packed with nutrients including iron, magnesium and calcium.
“I’ve been in love with sea moss and its benefits for many years,” Brent tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “I studied the benefits and the process of creating it and I just knew I had to share this with the world. A better, cleaner and natural form of health for the human body.”
Brent explains that when studying other brands of sea moss on the market, he found that their process of drop shipping and drying it out wasn’t a sustainable way to produce it.
“I wanted a cleaner and more pure way to farm and distribute it so it doesn’t lose the vitamins, minerals and its potency before someone even gets to consume it,” he adds.
“So I researched and researched until I found a way to not only eliminate those problems but to farm sustainably for the environment.”
1 Dollar One Dream Foundation
Brent’s sea moss journey also led to the creation of the 1 Dollar One Dream Foundation, which receives one dollar from every Mos x Daily purchase to support sea moss farming communities and their sustainable practices.
“We are helping thousands and hopefully millions of people by educating them on the immense benefits of moss, and now we found a way to help these communities who farm it and to include everyone who purchased a product to contribute as well,” he shares.
“I knew I had found the purpose of the business, to not only make sea moss global but be the bridge to these communities who have farmed it for generations [and] help them bring it to the world.”
He adds that his goal with Mos x Daily is to “get as many people onto sea moss as I can so it changes their lives the way it did mine”.
“The more people I can educate, the more people who want to have it in their homes, and the more people in need we can provide for,” he says.
While sea moss has been described as “the ultimate all-in-one solution that makes vitamin supplements a thing of the past”, it should be noted that no clinical trials have been conducted to investigate the benefits of sea moss - according to dietitian nutritionist Brooke Levine.
