Lucky Lotto numbers pay off TWICE for overnight multi-millionaire
A retiree on the Gold Coast has become an overnight multi-millionaire after striking Lotto gold.
The Helensvale man picked up a division one prize pool of $2,142,857.15 in Saturday’s Gold Lotto draw 4281.
“You’re joking!” he said when an official from The Lott phoned him on Sunday with the good news.
“I’ve got to sit down. Wow! The heart’s going a bit funny at the moment.
"It doesn't feel real. You've made my Sunday to say the least."
The lucky winner, who held one of 14 division one winning entries across the country, went on to pay tribute to his winning method.
“I’ve played these numbers for quite some time,” he said.
“I won a prize using those numbers on Powerball once, so I just kept using those numbers.
“I’m glad I kept those numbers.”
Describing the win as an “absolute pleasure shock", the retiree already has plans for what he and his wife will do with the bounty.
“We’re both retired and we wanted to move to live closer to our children but couldn’t afford it,” he said.
“Now we can.”
A win for the community too
The winning ticket was picked up at Pacific Pines Newsagency in Pacific Pines.
Owner Jack Xu was stoked that his outlet had made one of his customers a multi-millionaire.
“It’s the first division one winning entry we’ve sold in seven years,” he said.
“I couldn’t believe it when I first found out.
“I had to check the memo three times to make sure.”

While congratulating the winner on his good fortune, Ms Xu hopes the victory will be good for the whole community.
“It’s been tough since Covid and most people in our local community have had it tough too,” he said.
“We hope selling a division one winning entry will bring good news to the community and bring hope to everyone.”
