It has been four years since the end of Louise Redknapp's 19-year marriage to husband Jamie.

Now, the former pop star, 47, has shared how she got through the challenges of their 2017 separation with the help of friends.

Speaking to the Sun on Sunday's Fabulous magazine, she said: "I take each day as it comes. I have no expectations in life.

"I am really grateful that I’m surrounded by amazing friends. The most important thing is that they’re with you through good and bad.

"Everyone’s got good and bad times in their lives and you want people by your side through it all. I don’t want fair-weather friends.”

Since their divorce was finalised in 2018, ex-pro footballer Jamie, 48, has moved on with Swedish model Frida Andersson – and the couple, who are expecting their first child together, married last month in London.

Redknapp, who has herself remained single, also revealed in the same interview that her sons Charley, 16, and Beau, 12, have encouraged her to date again.

However, she insisted that it "takes time" and between being a mother and work – which includes starring in 9 To 5: The Musical – having a "social life is not my priority".

Redknapp, who rose to fame as part of the girl band Eternal, has previously shared her regret at how she handled the breakdown of her marriage, following her appearance on the 2016 series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Speaking to the Irish Examiner to promote her memoir You've Got This, she said that she rediscovered her "self-confidence and self-belief" as well as a "sense of purpose" after taking a career break to have children.

Writing in the book, she explained: "Before anyone could stop me, I just ran, as fast as the wind would take me. I never once looked behind, until maybe too late.

"I should have paused for a minute and thought about other people and had just a bit more time to work out why I felt I couldn’t do it any more."
