Watch: Louis Tomlinson accuses TV presenters of stirring up One Direction s*** during interview

Louis Tomlinson accused TV presenters of "stirring" as he quickly shut down talk about a One Direction “beef” in an interview.

The singer's bandmate Liam Payne recently opened up about life in the band in a podcast, saying he and Tomlinson had "hated" each other in the early days and that there were "many reasons why I dislike Zayn (Malik)".

Tomlinson, 30, was quizzed about the "1D beef" when he went on Australian show The Project - but he wasn't having any of it.

Presenter Peter Helliar asked: “There’s been a bit of 1D beef recently thanks to Liam, who has been speaking out about the band a little bit, when you look back on your experience with the band, how do you feel about those days?”

"Oh, so the fishing’s begun already," the star replied. "Yeah, I see what you’re doing."

He went on: "No listen, I’m immensely proud, as I know Liam is.

"I’m immensely proud of those days, obviously.

"I mean, it was an incredible thing to do and especially at such a young age.

"Amazing memories, man, amazing."

Presenter Carrie Bickmore asked if the singer was happy to talk about his days in One Direction, which was formed in 2010 when he, Payne, Malik, Niall Horan and Harry Styles went on The X Factor as solo singers and were put into a group.

He said he was "more than happy", but added: "It’s just when you mentioned the beef before it sounded like you were getting ready to stir some s*** up."

Tomlinson was also asked about the fact a Texas university is launching a course about Styles called 'Harry Styles and the Cult of Celebrity: Identity, the Internet, and European Pop Culture'.

When it came up on The Project, interviewer Waleed Aly quipped that it should have been about Tomlinson.

But the star replied: "Yeah, I don't really have any interest in having a course made about me, to be fair!

"But each to their own."

Aly chuckled and suggested that it was strange thing not to be interested in.

"You sound very interested, to be fair, maybe you should sign up?" Tomlinson responded.
