Lonely camel looking for a new home after her land was sold
An inhabitant of a recently purchased plot of land in southeast Queensland appears to have the hump as news broke it will need to find a new home.
Victoria the camel calls the 100-acre plot in Perseverance home but after it sold earlier this week, estate agent Simone Files, co-founder of Toowoomba’s Blackbird and Finch, has taken it upon herself to find the animal a new residence.
Taking to Facebook, the estate agent revealed Victoria has been in the field for over 10 years and alone since her remaining camel companion passed away nearly two years ago.
“The new owners don’t want the camel but we don’t want to put it down,” Ms Files told Yahoo7 News.
The post was inundated with responses from locals saying they’d be more than happy to take Victoria off Ms Files’ hands.
“The post has had over 30,000 views and I’ve had phone calls from Sydney to Bundaberg and even Darwin – its been a huge response,” she said.
Having not been moved since her arrival, Ms Files worries the transition to a new home won’t be easy, especially as she’s become “quite flighty”.
The plan is to round up Victoria and “try and coax it onto transport within the next two weeks” ready for its new home.

Ms Files now says she is sorting through a series of applicants in a bid to find the right home for the camel.
“We are sorting through all of the interest and hope to make a decision on her new home early next week,” the estate agent revealed.
