London travel news LIVE: Tube and Overground meltdown as TfL network hit by suspensions and delays
Commuters were hit with major disruption on the Tube and Overground on Friday.
By 7.55am, as many as four different lines were either suspended or partially suspended.
The Circle line was shut due to a signal failure at Whitechapel, which also sparked severe delays on the District line, before reopening with severe delays. The same problem caused the Hammersmith and City line to be suspended between Liverpool Street and Barking, before also reopening with delays.
Meanwhile the Central line was partially suspended between Loughton and Epping due to a “security alert”, before reopening with minor delays.
The London Overground was hit with two partial suspensions: between Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction due to a track fault at Kensington (Olympia), and between Sydenham and West Croydon after a points failure at Norwood Junction.
The service appeared to back to normal by lunchtime on Friday, but the Central line was suspended between Liverpool Street and Leytonstone eastbound due to a faulty train at Mile End.

Delays remain on several tube lines

There are still minor delays on the Central line between Leytonstone and Hainault via Newbury Park due to train cancellations.
There are further delays on Friday night on the Victoria line after a person was ill on a train earlier at Highbury and Islington.
Finally, there are also minor delays on the Jubilee line due to an earlier faulty train at Green Park.
Delays across the Tube network

There are currently a range of delays across the London transport network on Friday evening.
TfL has warned of severe delays on the Jubilee line while it fixes a faulty train at Green Park.
There are also minor delays on the Victoria line due to a person becoming ill on a train earlier at Highbury and Islington.
There are further minor delays on the London Overground between Highbury & Islington and New Cross Gate / New Cross due to an earlier faulty train at Highbury & Islington.
Finally, there are some minor delays on the Central line between Leytonstone and Hainault via Newbury Park due to train cancellations.
Major disruption on trains from King's Cross

Trains from King’s Cross to the North of England have been hit by major disruption due to disruption near Selby.
National Rail said a points failure and a fault with the electricity supply in the Selby area is causing disruption to journeys between Selby and York / Leeds / Doncaster.
Trains may be cancelled, revised, diverted or delayed by up to 90 minutes.
Major disruption is expected until the end of the day.
Faulty trains causing delays on three lines

TfL has warned there are severe delays between Canning Town and Beckton on the DLR while it fixes a faulty train at Gallions Reach.
There is a good service on all other DLR routes but faulty trains are causing delays on several Tube lines.
There are minor delays on the Central Line due to a faulty train at Mile End.
There are also minor delays on the Metropolitan Line between Moor Park and Chesham while TfL deal with a faulty train at Moor Park.

Good service on London Overground

A good service is now running on the London Overground. Severe delays on all other lines have cleared, and any remaining delays are now minor.

The Circle line is experiencing severe delays due to an earlier points failure at Whitechapel, which has also impacted the District line and Hammersmith & City line, both suffering from severe delays in the same area.
The London Overground remains disrupted, with no service between Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction because of a track fault at Kensington Olympia.
The Bakerloo line is running with minor delays due to a shortage of trains, while the Metropolitan line is also experiencing minor delays between Baker Street and Watford following train cancellations.

After reopening briefly following a points failure that led to its closure this morning, the Circle line has been hit with fresh problems after a train broke down at Earl’s Court.
Transport for London said there is currently no service clockwise and severe delays anticlockwise due to a faulty train at Earl's Court.
London Overground reopens between Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction

Trains between Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction may still be delayed by up to 15 minutes, cancelled or revised as services return to normal, National Rail has said.

Circle line reopens with severe delays

Transport for London said tickets are being accepted on London Buses.

As a result, trains at West Croydon may be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised, National Rail has said.

Signal failure at Whitechapel leads to meltdown

The Circle, District, and Hammersmith and City line have all been plunged into chaos by a signal failure at Whitechapel.
The fault, which is understood to still be unfixed, has led to the suspension of the Circle Line, severe delays on the District Line and the part suspension of the Hammersmith and City line between Liverpool Street and Barking.
The disruption has led to a miserable start to the day for commuters.

Disruption to Southeastern services to and from London Victoria

A fault with the signalling system at London Victoria means some lines are blocked, according to National Rail.
As a result, trains may be delayed or revised. This is expected until at least 10am.
Some services will be diverted to other London stations to ease congestion.
Some services between Orpington and London Victoria will be diverted to/from London Blackfriars.
Services between Gravesend and London Victoria will be diverted to/from London Cannon Street.
