Mum responds to news coffee attack suspect has fled Australia
The parents of the baby hospitalised in the Brisbane coffee attack say they're "devastated" the suspect managed to flee the country.
Speaking after Queensland Police announced the 33-year-old suspect had fled Australia days after the attack, Luka's parents said the news was "heartbreaking".
"This obviously means that we're going to have to wait who knows how long to get justice for our son," Luka's mother said.
She said she felt some relief that he is not in the country after she suffered from severe anxiety in the wake of the attack, living in fear he could strike again.
"I had no idea where this person was, I didn't want to leave this hospital because it became our safe space," she said.

Police missed suspect by 12 hours
Detectives are "devastated" they missed the suspect in the baby coffee attack flying out of Australia by just 12 hours, Detective Inspector Paul Dalton said.

He said it took them 15 minutes to realise the man detectives had identified had fled the country, leaving police "deflated".
Det Insp Dalton said police will "do whatever they can" to track down the suspect.

Photo highlights horrid snow season
It's been a brutal winter for Australia's ski resorts with drastically less snow than usual thanks to Australia's warmest August on record. It's meant some sites have closed their ski lifts for the season and the following two photos will show you exactly why.
The first picture is of what Mount Hotham looks like on a good day. The one after is this morning, taken at a time of year where snow levels are normally still high, showing the grim situation the resort has had to face this year. Mount Hotham's snow season came to an offical end on September 4.

IKEA launches 'Australian-first' competition
Well this is bit of a bizarre competition from IKEA.
While the flat pack masters are offering a $5k bedroom makeover to the person who can showcase on TikTok why they're the country's worst sleeper, there's also one 24-hour challenge they must go through to get their prize.
The winner will be made to spend 24 hours inside a 'Sleep Billboard' near Sydney's Harbour Bridge where passersby can watch them inside a custom-built bedroom.
“This is truly an Australian-first, and we can’t wait to showcase how IKEA can help Aussies get a better night’s sleep in this highly immersive way," IKEA's Patricia Routledge said.
Would you spend 24 hours in the pod to win a $5k bedroom makeover? Have your say below.

The 40cm crack wreaking havoc for Sydney commuters
Roughly the size of a classroom ruler, this crack has wreaked havoc for commuters this morning.
Several services were cancelled and plenty more delayed as urgent repair works were needed on the broken track at Sydney's Central Station during rush hour.
Transport for NSW’s rail operations director Jas Tumber told 2GB the work required was "logistically very complex to do while we’re still operating the network".
⚠️ Some trains are running late across various lines this morning due to urgent track repairs at Central. Here is an image of the culprit.
Our team is on site and working to rectify this issue ASAP.
We thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding. pic.twitter.com/doyP64Jgv8— Sydney Trains & NSW TrainLink Info (@TrainsInfo) September 8, 2024

She discovered her win on Saturday but was waiting for confirmation from The Lott when they called her this morning.

Aussie journo retells Liam Gallagher 'T-Rex' story
The Oasis hype continues to roll on for many as the band announced their comeback tour last month.
And it's prompted plenty to share their memorable interactions with the Gallagher brothers, including Australian-based journalist Lucie Morris-Marr who was a young reporter in the UK at the time the band was at their peak.
She's described the moment Liam Gallagher chased her car "like that T-Rex in Jurassic Park" as they both gave each other the middle finger.
We've added another picture from photographer Fiona Hanson of a not too happy Liam marching down the stairs of his home to approach Lucie and her colleague.
#thread So a lot of journalists are sharing their colourful @oasis anecdotes so here’s mine - concerning the day I came face to face with a very angry @liamgallagher in literally my first week in my first proper job at the Press Association aged 22….
— Lucie Morris-Marr (@luciemorrismarr) September 7, 2024
So this was October 1997 and the height of Oasis mania. @liamgallagher was making the news for breaking broadcasting rules for swearing during a live interview for @BBCR1 My news editor at the time picked me and a female photographer to go to his home for his reaction….

Almost as soon as we arrived outside his house in Primrose Hill, where he was living with Pasty Kensit, @liamgallagher burst out of his front door in a furious rage that media were outside. Fair enough except he then chased me across the street shouting expletives. Somehow…:

My photographer managed to sneak a quick shot from the safety of her car. I didn’t notice but @liamgallagher did. He then turned his attention to her and was shouting at her through her car window. I then managed to get into the passenger seat. We locked the doors and started…

..reversing down the street quite quickly. Feeling safe we also suddenly saw the funny side and started flipping the bird and laughing. This only enraged @liamgallagher further and he began chasing down the street towards us like that t-Rex in Jurassic Park…

Eventually we got away and my news editor decided it would make a great story: the next day the photo and story was all over the tabloids. My mother rang and said “darling you’re the first woman ever to be on page 3 with your coat on.” 😂👌 pic.twitter.com/zCLWa19YXT

Elle Macpherson dodges cancer question
Australian supermodel Elle Macpherson appeared on 60 Minutes last night in the aftermath of intense backlash for her "holistic" response to breast cancer where she turned down conventional methods including chemotherapy on the advice of doctors.
And when pressed if her approach had "cured" her cancer, Macpherson failed to offer a definitive answer in relation to that particular terminology.
“The word cure is a very interesting word," she told the program.
“No, I healed through breast cancer. I had a very formidable team that helped me through it.
“So now I would, you know I’m clinically in remission, that’s words that you know most doctors would say.”
Her treatments included natural medications through “intravenous drips, dentistry, osteopaths, chiropractors and a lot of spiritual work”.
