Pressure mounts after Joe Biden's 'biggest' Putin mistake
Well this certainly will increase the mounting pressure on US President Joe Biden to call it a day in the upcoming election.
In an unfortunate – and for many consequential - mistake, Biden, 81, has introduced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as Vladimir Putin during a speech about the US supporting Ukraine.
"And now I want to hand it over to the president of Ukraine, who has as much courage as he has determination, ladies and gentlemen, President Putin," Biden said, referring to Zelensky, before correcting himself.
"Going to beat President Putin, President Zelensky. I am so focused on beating Putin," Biden said while correcting himself.
The mistake led to gasps from the audience and unsurprisingly the clip has rapidly spread online.
Journalist Jack Parrock called it the "biggest gaff you can make in international diplomacy right now".
Biden's ability to take on a second term has been the biggest talking point in the US since his disastrous presidential debate with Donald Trump. A handful of Democrats have said its time someone else led the party, as have several key supporters of the party.
