  • Who is Laura Loomer? Concerns over conspiracy theorist travelling with Donald Trump

It was the debate moment that left millions baffled. A passionate Donald Trump accusing migrants in a small Ohio town of eating cats and dogs. He claimed he'd heard someone on TV say it, but those within his own party are concerned a hard-right conspiracy theorist was to blame.

Thirty-one-year-old Laura Loomer has been with Trump on his campaign trail and had pushed the baseless pet claim to her 1.2 million followers on X the day before the debate and travelled with the former president to the event.

Loomer, who has twice failed as a congressional candidate in Florida, is well-known for her anti-Muslim rhetoric and for spreading conspiracy theories, including that the 9/11 attacks were an "inside job" carried out by the US government.

She has also pushed claims that Kamala Harris is not black, and that the son of billionaire George Soros was sending cryptic messages calling for Trump's assassination.

And her online content has raised serious concerns within the Republican party, with one Trump aide claiming to NBC News earlier this year that "everyone thinks she's a liability".

  • Trump's big call on debate rematch

It's an emphatic no from Donald Trump after Kamala Harris suggested a rematch to Tuesday night's (US time) presidential debate.

Both parties have claimed they won the debate, however polls from mainstream US media outlets suggested Harris took the victory.

And while Trump said in the aftermath he was unsure about a rematch, he has now ruled it out.

"THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE!" Trump posted on his own social media platform.

Trump again suggested the reason Harris wanted a rematch was because she lost the debate.

"When a prizefighter loses a fight, the first words out of his mouth are, "I WANT A REMATCH." he wrote.
