While Donald Trump has accused ABC News' moderators of siding with Kamala Harris during yesterday's presidential debate, another unsubstantiated claim has gained plenty of traction online.

Facebook has been forced to step in and censor a meme that suggests Harris was wearing earrings with wireless audio.

“Nova Audio Earrings. She was Being coached, Now we know,” text on the image read, accompanied with a close up photo of Harris' earrings and a photo of what appear to be similar earrings with an audio feature.

With the post gaining thousands of shares, Facebook stepped in and blurred the picture.

"False information. Checked by independent fact-checkers," the social media giant explains.

USA Today also published an in-depth fact check, finding the claim to be false. Susan Kelly, who follows what Harris wears for her site What Kamala Wore, called the claim "bizarre" and said Harris had been wearing the earrings from the debate for months.

"It’s believed that protesters targeted the members and their mounts, purposely spraying irritant into the horses’ noses under their face coverings and under the face shields of their riders," police said on Thursday.

"While washing down the horses after their shift, several Mounted Branch members and stable hands also showed signs of skin irritation."

Protesters had earlier been seen throwing manure at mounted police on live television on Wednesday. Police said protests on Thursday were far more peaceful. Over 50 people have been arrested across the two days.

We also ask the media respects our need for privacy at this time, and give us the time and space we need to grieve.

The boys' 42-year-old mother was arrested on Tuesday and has remained under police guard in hospital after she sustained injuries. No charges have been laid.
