Couple stranded in outback with croc saved
A couple stranded in the Queensland outback for three days thought they were going to die when they were stalked by a large crocodile in sweltering heat.
Their 4WD was swept into a creek by flood waters before they were able to climb out of a window to safety.
A friend reported them missing but police struggled to access the area in the Far North. LifeFlight pilots were deployed in a helicopter and the couple were eventually found. They'd been surviving on muddy river water and were "very emotional" when the crew arrived, revealing they had to fend off a large croc that had been stalking them.

Yep, that's right. The buyers of 1 Fernleigh Gardens located on City2Surf's famous Heartbreak Hill in the exclusive suburb of Rose Bay has sold for $10.215 million despite its modest size.

Donald Trump has revealed he plans to immediately pardon US Capitol rioters when he returns to the White House.
Siting down with NBC in hist first televised interview since winning the election, Trump said convicted rioters who stormed the Capitol had been put through a “very nasty system”.
“I’m going to be acting very quickly. First day,” Trump told Kristen Welker.
“I know the system... the system’s a very corrupt system.
"Those people have suffered long and hard... there may be some exceptions to it, I have to look." More than 1,200 people have been convicted over the January 6, 2021 attack.
When Trump was asked about Capitol attackers who assaulted police officers he said that “they had no choice”. He also claimed individuals were pressured into accepting guilty pleas.

Remarkable reveals about Aussie sprint sensation
He's arguably the most talked about teen in world sport right now, but we've been saying his name wrong all this time.
Despite wearing Gout on his bib, Gout Gout's name isn't actually correct. According to his father, the 16-year-old sprint sensation, who was born in Queensland's Ipswich, is actually called Guot Guot which is pronounced 'Gwot'.
The error came when his parents fled South Sudan and a spelling mix-up occurred.
“When I see people called him Gout Gout I’m not really happy for him," his dad told Seven.
“I know that Gout Gout is a disease name but I don’t want my son to be called a disease name ... it’s something that’s not acceptable.”
The teenager delivered a stunning time of 20.04 seconds at the Australian All Schools Championships in Brisbane last week, breaking the Aussie record held by Peter Norman for 56 years.

Aussie Coca-Cola staff to walk off job over Pepsi detail
Factory workers at soft drink powerhouse Coca-Cola are set to walk off the job, claiming the global giant pays staff significantly less than major rival Pepsi.
About 150 workers from Coke's Northmead factory, in western Sydney, have voted to take industrial action which the union said could impact Christmas supply of the popular drink.
The decision comes days after Woolworths' distribution centre workers secured a pay rise following a 17-day strike.
Electrical Trades Union NSW secretary Allen Hicks claimed the Coca-Cola workers would be better off at Pepsi.
"Despite doing the same work, workers in Coca-Cola's Northmead factory are paid significantly lower than those working for Pepsi," he said.
"Coca-Cola has a two-tiered wage system which sees some employees paid significantly less than their co-workers, even though they're doing exactly the same job."
In response, Coca-Cola Europacific said it was still in negotiations with workers at the Northmead Manufacturing and Logistics site on a new enterprise agreement.

Syria's President Assad flees to Russia after ouster
Syria's President Assad flees to Russia after ousterSyrian rebels have seized the capital Damascus unopposed after a lightning advance that sent President Bashar al-Assad fleeing to Russia after a 13-year civil war and six decades of his family's autocratic rule.
In one of the biggest turning points for the Middle East in generations, the fall of Assad's government on Sunday wiped out a bastion from which Iran and Russia exercised influence across the Arab world. Moscow gave him and his family asylum, Russian state media said.
His sudden overthrow, at the hands of a revolt partly backed by Turkey and with roots in jihadist Sunni Islam, limits Iran's ability to spread weapons to its allies and could cost Russia its Mediterranean naval base. It may pave the way for millions of refugees scattered for more than a decade in camps across Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan to finally return home.
For Syrians, it brought a sudden unexpected end to a war in deep freeze for years, with hundreds of thousands dead, cities pounded to dust and an economy hollowed out by global sanctions.
"How many people were displaced across the world? How many people lived in tents? How many drowned in the seas?" the top rebel commander Abu Mohammed al-Golani told a huge crowd in central Damascus, referring to refugees who died trying to reach Europe.
"A new history, my brothers, is being written in the entire region after this great victory," he said, adding that with hard work Syria would be "a beacon for the Islamic nation".
