In an emotional open letter The Project host Lisa Wilkinson has pleaded with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison to “lock us down” amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“But I write now with a gentle plea. Prime Minister, Australia is confused,” she said in the piece published on 10daily.

“We’ve never been more prepared to do the right thing, but the problem is it's just not clear what the right thing is at the moment.”

Her sentiments echoed plenty of the reactions online after the Prime Minister’s ‘confusing’ press conference on Tuesday night.

Even former Aussie cricketer Shane Warne was one of a number of people to share their confusion online.

“Listening to the PM like everyone here in Australia and what I understood was, ‘It’s essential, unless it’s not. Then it’s essentially not essential. I can’t be clearer’,” he wrote on Twitter.

Fellow journalist Emma Alberici said this: “Ok - 10 people can mourn together .. 5 people can celebrate a wedding but if the bride intends to go on a runner .. for exercise ... she can take 9 people with her. Glad we cleared that up.”

While all others could do to sift through the influx of messaging was focus on the fact the Prime Minister had absolutely no idea what barre is or how to even pronounce it.

But as Lisa went on to point out, she thought the fact he was talking about barre in the first place was “inconceivable”.

“It was also good to clear up whether or not tanning, waxing and nail salons can or can’t stay open,” Lisa continued. “But are those words we really want to hear from our leader at a time of national crisis? Waxing?”

With restrictions sometimes even varying from state to state, Lisa goes to to stress “we need absolute clear messaging”.

“Two words of clear communication should do it: ‘Lockdown, everyone’,” she concluded.
