Lifelong friends win $1.25 million Lotto jackpot after two decades of playing
The men celebrated their winnings in true Aussie style as they discussed how to spend their winnings.
Two mates have finally won big after playing Lotto together for over two decades, toasting their persistence to the sum of $1.25 million.
Despite the lifelong friends having a spreadsheet to document their entries, they were still in complete shock when one received an email from The Lott saying the pair had won the first division Saturday Lotto.
"I got an email on Sunday morning from The Lott about a win, but it didn't specify how much we had won," one of the winners from Carseldine in Brisbane's north said. "I rang up my friend straight away and I asked him to give me the ticket number so I could look up the results of our ticket... I looked it up straight away and I was in complete shock."
The pair admitted there were "a few colourful words" exchanged on the phone but called the bonding moment "awesome".
"I didn't really sleep last night as I was up thinking about it all," the winner said.

Once it was confirmed the pair did indeed have a division one entry, the Aussie pair celebrated in Aussie style — by having a drink together.
"My mate and his wife came over last night and we enjoyed a bottle of red to celebrate!" one of the winners said. "We also talked about what we should do with the prize and reminisced on how long we’ve been playing together for!"
The men held one of four division one entries in the Saturday Lotto draw 4493 — with two other winners in Queensland and the other in Western Australia.
The winning numbers were 42, 37, 4, 45, 10 and 38, while the supplementary numbers were 36 and 15.
