Liam Payne’s mum ‘worried sick’ and feels ‘helpless’ as he’s hospitalised in Italy
Liam Payne’s mum has revealed she’s been left “worried sick” after the former One Direction star was taken to hospital in Italy.
On Tuesday evening, it was claimed that the 30-year-old fell ill in Lake Como, Italy while he was celebrating his one-year anniversary with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy.
His hospitalisation came weeks after he’d been forced to postpone his South American solo tour, after receiving treatment for a serious kidney infection.
Amid the reports, his mother, Karen Payne, spoke out about her concern for her son’s wellbeing, admitting how “helpless” she felt.
According to MailOnline, she said: “We are all worried sick about it but we just have to get on. It’s horrible – him being all the way over there.
“He’s in Milan and it sounds like he’ll be there for a week. I feel helpless.
“All we can really do is sit it out here and hope for the best. There is nothing we can do. We feel helpless.”
Karen added that it was “such a horrible situation”, and his family “just hope he’s in the best place possible”.
On Wednesday, it had been reported that the British star was in a “bad way” and had been taken to hospital after suffering “agonising pain”.
“Liam is in a bad way but he’s in the best place he can be and finally doctors will be able to get to the bottom of what is going on,” an insider told The Sun.
“Naturally he is gutted that his and Kate’s trip to Lake Como has been ruined but at least she was there to help him when he fell ill.
“Doctors have warned him not to expect to be signed off to go home for at least another six days.”
According to the source, medics want to “do every test possible to understand the issue” while the outlet also reported that Payne was taken to A&E in an ambulance before being taken to a hospital ward for emergency treatment.
The report comes weeks after Payne was forced to postpone his upcoming tour of South America after being in hospital with a “serious kidney infection”.
The British singer, who celebrated his 30th birthday on August 29, said the infection was something “I wouldn’t wish on anyone” and had been instructed by doctors to “rest and recover”.
