Two Australian crewman on board a Chinese-owned survey vessel have been confirmed to have legionnaire's disease after falling ill on the weekend.

An Australian Maritime Safety Authority spokeswoman told ABC radio on Monday a third crewman was also in hospital while the remaining members had been assessed at a clinic.

The ship will remain anchored off Broome in Western Australia's north until the test results of its atmosphere and water system are received.
