LeBron James endorses Kamala Harris: ‘The choice is clear to me’

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James endorsed Vice President Harris in the 2024 White House race, saying “the choice is clear to me.”

The four-time NBA champion announced his support for the Democratic nominee by sharing a video Thursday. It features former President Trump’s past comments where he used demeaning language when talking about migrants and comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s recent performance during the former president’s New York City rally on Sunday where he attacked Puerto Rico, Latinos and Black people.

“That’s one of my buddies, we carved watermelons together, it was awesome, Hinchcliffe said at one point during the campaign rally, a snippet that was featured in James’s video.

“What are we even talking about here?? When I think about my kids and my family and how they will grow up, the choice is clear to me,” James wrote in the post accompanying the video. “VOTE KAMALA HARRIS!!!”

James, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, has criticized Trump before, and he endorsed President Biden in the 2020 election. Following Biden’s victory in the last presidential election, James trolled Trump, sharing an edited photo of Biden “blocking” the ex-president. He called Trump a “bum” in 2017.

James and other prominent Black athletes and entertainers started “More Than a Vote,” a nonprofit organization aimed at encouraging African Americans to register and vote in the 2020 election. The organization is now being led by Nneka Ogwumike, a former MVP of the WNBA who played for the Seattle Storm last season.

James endorsed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during her unsuccessful 2016 presidential run.
