LeSean McCoy agrees to deal with Tampa Bay after Bucs' rookie RB hits reserve/COVID-19 list
LeSean McCoy has a new team for his 12th NFL season.
The veteran running back has reached an agreement on a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The deal will add McCoy to a newly acquired group of veterans including Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski.

McCoy is coming off the first Super Bowl championship of his career, though it came in a season in which he posted the fewest carries of his career.
In 13 games with the Kansas City Chiefs, McCoy posted 465 rushing yards (4.6 yards per carry) and four touchdowns while adding 181 receiving yards. He was all but forgotten in the playoffs, posting zero touches after averaging 9.9 per game in the regular season.
In Tampa Bay, McCoy will likely serve as another depth option, though he may see more touches than usual in training camp after a certain roster move.
Bucs placed rookie Ke'Shawn Vaughn on COVID-19 list
The opening of the Buccaneers’ training camp saw the team place rookie running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn on the newly created reserve/COVID-19 list.
The Bucs had selected Vaughn in the third round of the 2020 NFL draft and it seemed the Vanderbilt alum would compete with 2019 starter Ronald Jones for touches. Vaughn landing on the COVID-19 list obviously complicates that situation.
With McCoy aboard, the Tampa Bay depth chart suddenly looks quite crowded at the top. In addition to McCoy, Vaughn and Jones, who has been very up and down in his two-year career, the Buccaneers also have Dare Ogunbowale, who worked as a third-down receiving specialist last season.
