Arsenal may have to wait until the summer to sign Layvin Kurzawa after PSG boss Thomas Tuchel claimed that he still needs the wing-back at Parc des Princes.

Kurzawa, 27, is a transfer target for Arsenal, and is free to speak to the Gunners about signing as a free agent this summer given that his contract with PSG expires at the end of the season.

Standard Sport understands that Arsenal are in talks over a cut-price deal to sign Kurzawa this month to ease their problems at left-back, while the defender has joined the Sports Invest UK company, which is based in London and owned by renowned agent Kia Joorabchian.

However, it appears as though PSG coach Tuchel is intent on keeping the wing-back in the French capital this month.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Tuchel said: "I haven't spoken with Layvin (Kurzawa) or anyone else about his departure this winter.

"Layvin is number two behind (Juan) Bernat in the left-back position. We need him and Layvin will play tomorrow against Lorient."

Arsenal's interest in Kurzawa comes after Mikel Arteta suggested the club would attempt to bring in a full-back in January following injuries to defenders Sead Kolasinac and Kieran Tierney.

“We are playing with full-backs that are not full-backs,” Arteta said on Wednesday.

“They are wingers or central midfielders and could we afford to lose full-backs? No, but we don’t have any full-backs.”
