Law and Order actress dies in tragic drowning: 'Crushed'
A TV actress who starred in the hit shows Law and Order and ER has reportedly died after she jumped into a river to exercise.
Mary Mara, 61, drowned in St Lawrence River in the US state of New York, with her body tragically discovered in Cape Vincent on Sunday, according to TMZ.
The publication says she had been visiting her sister when tragedy struck during her morning exercise.
The actress has starred in a number of popular shows, appearing in two episodes of Law and Order and nine episodes of ER.
She also appeared in two episodes of NYPD Blue and was the star of the '90s TV show Nash Bridges, playing the character of Inspector Brynn Carson.
Her manager Craig Dorfman confirmed the death in a statement to Variety.
“Mary was one of the finest actresses I ever met,” he wrote.
“I still remember seeing her onstage in 1992 in ‘Mad Forest’ off-Broadway. She was electric, funny and a true individual. Everyone loved her. She will be missed.”
Actor and director Jon Lindstrom paid tribute to the actress on Twitter following the devastating news.
"Crushed to learn of Mary Mara’s untimely passing," he said.
"We performed together back in 2008 in Malcolm Danare’s 'In Heat' at the Lost Playhouse in LA. She was ploughing through the aftereffects of Chemo. Brave, brilliant, Uber-talented. Earth will be much less colourful without her. RIP."
Another colleague who worked with Mary on a movie also paid their respects on Twitter.
"She was super supportive of everyone on set and very good to me. This is very sad," he wrote.
"I had the absolute pleasure of working with Mary Mara for two great years. Consummate pro, funny, sharp, kind, a first-class human being. She was kind enough to participate in a table read of one of my earliest scripts. RIP Mary. You’ll be missed," screenwriter Bob Saenz shared.
