* Melbourne will emerge from lockdown at 11:59 Thursday but masks will remain mandatory after a family with no known links to current outbreaks tested positive for COVID-19.

* Meanwhile hundreds of people are isolating in NSW and Queensland after a virus-infected couple from Melbourne travelled through the states after leaving Victoria's lockdown.

* The husband tested positive to the virus on Wednesday, after earlier returning a negative result because he was at the end of his infection.

* West Australians aged in their 30s have been able to receive their first vaccine doses, with the state's jab rollout expanding from Thursday.

* A 52-year-old woman has been confirmed as the second death in Australia linked to the AstraZeneca vaccine which has been injected 3.6 million times nationwide.

* Prime Minister Scott Morrison has warned reaching a population-wide vaccination target will not trigger a federal government decision to open international borders.


* There have been 5,487,670 doses administered in the national COVID-19 vaccination rollout up to Wednesday, including 142,808 in the previous 24 hours.

* Of the total, 3,375,069 have been administered by the Commonwealth (an increase of 76,130 in the previous 24 hours).

* 2,984,909 have been issued in primary care (+70,936) and 390,160 in aged and disability facilities (+5194).

* 2,112,601 have been administered by the states and territories, including 66,678 in the previous 24 hours.

* 725,049 have been administered in Victoria (+27,146), 545,970 in NSW (+15,484), 317,982 in Queensland (+12,367), 199,593 in Western Australia (+3376), 139,732 in South Australia (+4090), 82,158 in Tasmania (+1620), 59,586 in the ACT (+1273) and 42,531 in the NT (+1322).


* Australia reported six new virus cases on Thursday, including two locally acquired cases in Queensland and four in Victoria.

* There were 11 new overseas-acquired cases recorded in hotel quarantine: six in Queensland, three in NSW and two in South Australia.

* The national death toll is 910: Victoria 820, NSW 56, Tasmania 13, WA 9, Queensland 7, SA 4, ACT 3 (Two Queensland residents who died in NSW have been included in the official tolls of both states).


* Cases: at least 174,433,000

* Deaths: at least 3,758,000

* Vaccine doses administered: at least 2,213,885,000
