LATEST COVID-19 DEVELOPMENTS:

* Australia's medicine regulator granted provisional approval to the Moderna vaccine for 12- to 17-year-olds, after it was previously given a green light for adults.

* Ten million doses of the Moderna vaccine are due to touch down within weeks.

* NSW recorded 1533 new local COVID-19 cases, another record high. Four people died.

* The number of virus patients in NSW hospitals surpassed 1000 for the first time. Some 1041 people are now being treated in hospital, with 173 people in intensive care.

* NSW government ministers and parliamentary secretaries will boycott sittings of the parliament's upper house, essentially thwarting them, over health concerns.

* At least 19 people have tested positive in the tiny NSW town of Enngonia, which had a population of 148 at the last census.

* More than 175,000 Victorian businesses struggling through lockdowns will receive $2.34 billion in funding over the next four weeks, split between the Victorian and federal governments.

* Victoria recorded 190 new locally acquired COVID-19 cases, with 103 linked to known cases.

* The ACT recorded 32 new coronavirus cases, the highest daily number reported during the current outbreak. At least 19 were infectious in the community.

* More than 1000 southeast Queensland families were ordered to quarantine for two weeks after they were potentially exposed to the coronavirus by a four-year-old girl infected by an interstate truck driver.

AUSTRALIAN VACCINATION NUMBERS:

* There have been 20,641,758 doses administered in the national COVID-19 vaccination rollout up to Friday, including 312,275 in the previous 24 hours.

* Of the total, 11,971,813 have been administered by the Commonwealth (an increase of 175,617 in the previous 24 hours).

* 11,178,295 have been issued in primary care (+167,153) and 793,518 (+8464) in aged and disability facilities.

* 8,669,945 have been administered by the states and territories, including 136,658 in the previous 24 hours.

AUSTRALIAN CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS:

* Australia reported 1756 local cases on Saturday: 1533 in NSW, 190 in Victoria, 32 in the ACT and one in Queensland.

* There were also four overseas-acquired cases reported: two in South Australia, and one each in NSW and Queensland.

* The national death toll is 1036: Victoria 823, NSW 179, Tasmania 13, WA 9, Queensland 7, SA 4, ACT 3. (Two Queensland residents who died in NSW have been included in the official tolls of both states).

GLOBAL CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS:

* Cases: at least 219,824,202

* Deaths: at least 4,553,752

* Vaccine doses administered: at least 5,404,314,027
