* Victoria will lower the age base to 12 and up in its daily COVID-19 vaccine uptake reporting, as the state's daily virus figures continue to drop.

* The state recorded 941 new coronavirus infections on Wednesday, the second consecutive day the numbers have dropped below 1000.

* Eight Victorians aged in their 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s have died with the virus, bringing the state's death toll since the beginning of the pandemic to 1142.

* Premier Dominic Perrottet is warning that COVID-19 cases in NSW will increase as the state opens up, with extensive new freedoms to kick in next week.

* NSW recorded 190 new local cases of COVID-19 - up 17 on the previous day - and four deaths.

* Western Australia is easing border restrictions with NSW and will reveal its roadmap to reopening to coronavirus-hit states on Friday.

* Of the total, 21,194,221 have been administered by the Commonwealth (an increase of 97,583 in the previous 24 hours).

* 14,855,234 have been administered by the states and territories, including 49,826 in the previous 24 hours.

* Nationwide, 88.7 per cent of people 16 and over have had at least their first dose and 78.5 per cent are double dosed.


* Australia reported 1146 local cases on Wednesday: 941 in Victoria, 190 in NSW and 15 in the ACT.

* There were no overseas-acquired infections.

* The national death toll is 1766: Victoria 1144 (+8), NSW 581 (+4), Tasmania 13, ACT 10, WA 9, Queensland 7 and SA 4. Two Queensland residents who died in NSW have been included in the official tolls of both states.

* Vaccine doses administered: at least 7,106,611,000.
