LATEST COVID-19 DEVELOPMENTS:

* Prime Minister Scott Morrison is trying to establish quarantine-free travel with South Korea and Japan, following a similar deal with Singapore.

* Just 54.5 per cent of Indigenous Australians over 16 are fully vaccinated, compared with more than 80 per cent of the general population.

* Two unvaccinated men in their 30s and 40s were among three new deaths reported in NSW. The state recorded 216 new COVID-19 cases.

* A health alert was issued for a Sydney gym chain after 11 cases were detected across three gyms.

* Victoria reported 1003 new COVID-19 cases and 14 deaths.

* Coronavirus fragments were found in wastewater in Katherine in the Northern Territory, a week after the town was plunged into a four-day lockdown.

* Queensland recorded three new COVID-19 cases, including a mystery case on the Gold Coast who has been infectious in the community for up to six days.

* Queensland will allow home quarantine for domestic travellers as soon as 70 per cent of eligible Queenslanders are fully vaccinated. The option will be open for fully vaccinated people living within two hours of an airport with external access to their homes.

* Businessman Clive Palmer has threatened to initiate legal action against the Queensland government's plan to ban unvaccinated people from venues and restrict their visits to hospitals when state borders reopen.

* Canberra hospitals are now free of active COVID-19 patients for the first time since the beginning of the ACT's Delta outbreak.

AUSTRALIAN VACCINATION NUMBERS:

* There have been 37,077,799 doses administered in the national COVID-19 vaccination rollout up to Tuesday, including 149,424 in the previous 24 hours.

* Of the total, 21,878,349 have been administered by the Commonwealth (an increase of 103,182 in the previous 24 hours).

* 15,199,450 have been administered by the states and territories, including 46,242 in the previous 24 hours.

* Nationwide, 89.7 per cent of people 16 and over have had at least their first dose and 81.5 per cent are double dosed.

AUSTRALIAN CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS:

* Australia reported 1230 local cases: 1003 in Victoria, 216 in NSW, nine in the ACT, and two in Queensland.

* There was one overseas-acquired infection in NSW, and two interstate-acquired infections, one each in the NT and Queensland.

* The national death toll is 1843: Victoria 1206 (+14), NSW 607 (+3), ACT 14, Tasmania 13, WA 9, Queensland 7 and SA 4. (Two Queensland residents who died in NSW have been included in the official tolls of both states.)

GLOBAL CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS:

* Cases: at least 250,836,019.

* Deaths: at least 5,063,872

* Vaccine doses administered: at least 7,310,555,426.
