Lamborghini driver 'walked home in tears' after police seized car

The driver of a Lamborghini has walked home “in tears” after the $745,000 supercar was seized by police in England.

Officers from Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire (BCH) Road Policing Unit spotted the expensive yellow Aventador being driven in an “anti-social” manner in the early hours of Monday morning.

They said the driver was already on their radar after being warned twice about causing “alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public”, according to the Independent.

When the luxury italian-made vehicle was stopped for a third time on its way to a car meet, it was revealed the driver had decided not to pay any tax on the vehicle because it was “too expensive.”

Police posted a picture of the seized vehicle to social media showing its scissor doors pointing upwards.

“Vehicle was already subject to 2 x S.59 warnings, but the driver decided to drive in an anti-social manner en route to a car meet. Seized under S.60 and it's also untaxed as it's too expensive... driver walking home in tears,” the caption read.

The post was inundated with comments, and one person joked the driver has ‘champagne taste’ but ‘beer money pockets’.

Another said: ‘All flash and no cash.’

One person asked which auction they can bid for the car at.

A Lamborghini Aventador can cost more than $745,000 and can reach speeds of up to 350 kilometres per hour.

The driver reportedly has until the end of this week to try and reclaim his car.

It is not yet clear whether they have been fined.
