'Mine's real': Shop security guard shoots two robbers armed with fake gun

A hero security guard has foiled a convenience store robbery in California, storming the shop within seconds of the would-be thieves jumping the counter and helping themselves to the cash register.

Incredible security camera video of the robbery quickly began to circulate on social media, showing two hooded thieves, later identified to be about 16 years old, entering the store and jumping over the front counter.

One of the thugs can be seen appearing to point a gun at the attendant, who threw both hands in the air in surrender.

But in less than 15 seconds, an armed security guard entered the shop and took control of the situation, opening fire at both teens.

“It’s fake,” one of the youths yells about his own weapon, which police said appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun.

“Oh, well. Mine’s real,” the guard replied.

The security guard demanded the pair to put their hands behind their backs and asked the worker to call 911, holding the would-be robbers behind the counter until police officers arrived.

“Fearing for the cashier’s life, the security guard took action by shooting the male that was pointing the gun at the cashier. Believing the other male also had a weapon, he also fired at him, as a result striking both,” the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department Information Bureau said in a statement.

Both suspects were transported to a local hospital and treated for their non-life threatening injuries, police confirmed.

They were both charged with robbery and are being held without bail.

The footage of the December 30 incident was shared on YouTube two weeks later and went viral, gaining more than 1.5 million views in just one week.
