Konrad Bien-Stephen reacts to Bachelor Jed McIntosh comparisons

Some fans believe Konrad 'paved the way' for Jed.

Ever since Jed McIntosh was announced as one of the three new Bachelors last year, fans have compared him to former Bachelorette contestant Konrad Bien-Stephen.

With their bleach blonde hair and unique sense of style, some fans even believe that Konrad’s beloved appearance on Brooke Blurton’s season in 2021 “paved the way” for Jed’s starring role.

Speaking with Yahoo Lifestyle about the comparisons, Konrad says he doesn’t believe there are too many similarities between himself and the 25-year-old musician.

“I feel like before Jed and our comparison it was Machine Gun Kelly,” he laughs. “I think people were calling me ‘Machine Gun Konrad’, and I’ve seen some stuff with Jed as well.

“We both had bleached hair and he likes to dress a little bit differently from the norm, I guess. But I think that's where it kind of ends really. I think it's purely just the look thing.

“I'm not offended by it at all,” he continues. “It’s just, people don't know us.”

Konrad went on to share that he met Jed and fellow Bachelor Thomas Malucelli for the first time at the Melbourne Cup Carnival in November.

“Thomas was lovely, came across as a really lovely guy, really sweet,” he says. “And Jed had that kind of wild boy vibe about him. When I met him he was a little bit loose, he was having a good time. I was feeling for Channel 10’s PR team!

“For the most part, they’re really great guys.”

'It's a lot'

While he admits he hasn’t watched every episode, Konrad describes season ten of The Bachelors as “a little chaotic” compared to his season of The Bachelorette.

“It's a lot,” he says. "Watching the first episode, there are a lot of people involved and it's a completely different format to the season that I was a part of. I don't know if I'd want to be in that penthouse.

“I feel like the season that I was a part of, there was a lot of love in it. For me anyway, with my experience, it was quite wholesome. There were a few silly things with the loveseat and stuff like that, but for the most part, it was very inclusive. Everyone really did have a good time.

“This season, I mean, I love the production team, but I don't know if they’ve maybe turned on the Bachelors a little bit. They’re stirring it up and they're not trying to make them out to be the most amazing guys in the world, they’re kind of just going with it.”
