Kmart shoppers lose it over 'sad' $10 item: 'Give Christmas a miss'
A Kmart shopper who thought she was scoring a bargain instead received a surprise after unboxing the item at home. The woman bought a Christmas tree for just $10 from the discount department store, thinking she had made some great savings on her festive decorations.
However, a TikTok video posted after she unboxed the product revealed a depressing-looking tree with thin, spindly branches and wide gaps between each layer.
"Well this makes sense why it was $10, thanks Kmart," she captioned the video.
Many shoppers urged her to "fluff up" the tree to improve the aesthetic, but she said she had already done so and there had been little improvement. Some lost it on TikTok over the sad tree, with one comparing it to a green toilet brush.
"That's a Christmas stick," one joked.
"It's so sad," another commented.
"Maybe give Christmas a miss this year," a light-hearted comment read.
Others however were not surprised by the state of the tree, while some suggested it could be redeemed.
"That is exactly what I think a $10 Kmart tree would look like," one said.
"I bought this tree. Added tinsel, lights, ornaments and it looks amazing! Massive transformation that’s for sure," another commented.
"You need to spread the branches out it will make a huge difference. I know I have the same tree," a third added.

"Great for the price," another added.
"Perfect wee Xmas tree my son and I absolutely loved putting this together. An absolute steal at this price," a happy customer shared.
It comes as a number of Kmart shoppers share their Christmas tree hacks using items from the discount department store. One woman went viral after sharing her unique Christmas tree inspired by the classic holiday story How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Posting a photo of her creation in a popular Facebook group, a shopper explained that she had purchased a slim pencil tree online and used chicken wire and garland from Kmart to make it bend at the top.

She then bought decorations from Kmart, Spotlight, Myer and Christmas Elves, including large red, white and green baubles, candy canes, and other embellishments.
To tie in the Dr. Seuss theme, she also purchased Grinch gloves online, used Santa hat chair covers as sleeves and chicken wire to stick them on either side of the tree.
The end result is a glittery, eye-catching Christmas tree that looks like the Grinch is standing behind it with his arms wrapped around it.
