Kmart is definitely a one-stop-shop when it comes to home decorating and even furniture items.
But just when you thought it couldn't get any better, it looks like the budget retailer has now moved into new territory.
Kmart introduces white goods
Kmart now stocks a range of white goods starting at the budget price of $249 and includes everything from fridges to dryers.
Currently, the new items are available as an ‘online exclusive’ and are available to customers in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia.
The budget range is expected to be popular with Kmart fans with all of the products stating they are "subject to availability".
Needless to say, the new move has delighted fans with dozens already eagerly jumping online to purchase a product from the Anko range.
"I need a washing machine asap, been looking for a cheap alternative," one excited shopper said, while another added "That’s awesome!! I really need a dryer!"
But those who have been avid Kmart fans for some time pointed out that this isn’t actually a new offering.
Dozens of customers said they remembered when Kmart used to sell Homemaker branded white goods in store 15 to 20 years ago.
“They sold them years ago too,” one shopper said. “I brought a washing machine for my parents from Kmart 15 years ago and besides a broken belt it's still going strong.”
Another added: “I got my freezer from Kmart probably over 15 years ago and was so cheap and still is fantastic.”
A third said that her 15-year-old Kmart dishwasher was still going strong too, although she was “ready for an upgrade”.
Does cheaper mean better?
Despite the old Kmart white goods seemingly going the distance, opinions were divided on whether the Anko branded range would be as good.
While the price tag may seem appealing, there are a few issues customers are already calling out on the new range.
Customers shared their concerns on Facebook saying that while you may save money at the checkout, chances are you’ll spend more actually using them due to the poor energy rating.
“Don’t get sucked in. Cheap now and a massive bill later. The energy rating is atrocious. You’re better off investing in a better quality appliance front up.
“If you care about your energy bill or the environment they aren’t the best purchases!” one shopper pointed out after looking into the budget range.
Some savvy customers have also pointed out that delivery would be expensive, especially for those in regional areas.
“Honestly, people need to look around before buying these. Those energy ratings are terrible for one, and I've seen that delivery is $52 in Metro areas,” said another.
