Mind your step because many Kmart shoppers are in the process of tossing their kettles out the kitchen window after falling in love with the discount retailer’s newest device: an instant hot water dispenser.
The $69 gadget holds up to 2L of water which it claims to heat in ‘three to five seconds,’ perfect for those who need a cuppa tout de suite.
With a child safety lock and the option to adjust the water temperature to suit your brew — 25C, 75C, 85C and 98C — the instant hot water dispenser has won its share of fans on Facebook.
“I'm so in love with my new Instant Hot Water Dispenser. Love that you can change the temperature to suit... Perfect for my green tea,” one happy customer shared along with a snap of the device in use.
“Instant hot water dispenser is amazing. Goodbye kettle and the waiting,” said another in a separate post.
Curious Facebook users flooded the comments with questions for those who’d already purchased the product, asking if it’s noisy to run (“No, it’s very quiet,” was the answer) and whether it stays hot all the time:
“It isn't hot to touch... you press a button and about 5-second wait and it comes out hot. Magic,” was the reply.
Not everyone was a fan of the newfangled gadget, with one shopper reporting it got the thumbs down from their partner:
“I got one yesterday. My partner used it once and went back to the kettle... he said its not hot enough. It was on 98 degrees too,” they wrote.
