Kitten resuscitated by firefighters after being pulled from drainpipe

Firefighters in NSW have resuscitated a small kitten after it was pulled unresponsive from a stormwater drainpipe.

Crews in Wee Waa, 450km west of Coffs Harbour on the north coast, rushed to the aid of the feline after receiving reports it was stuck under a concrete footpath outside an IGA store on Friday morning.

After pulling it free, firefighters soon realised the kitten wasn’t breathing and quickly performed CPR.

Footage shared by NSW Fire and Rescue shows the dramatic rescue as a firefighter holds the lifeless body in one hand.

After an anxious minute-and-a-half wait, the kitten begins breathing again and an oxygen mask is applied while it is dried off and wrapped in a firefighter’s jacket.

The kitten was given aptly named Draino by firefighters after no owner came forward.
