Khloe Kardashian sparks Coles sell-out after shock beauty plug

Khloe Kardashian and Coles may not be two brands you think of in the same sentence, but the reality star has sparked a frenzy Down Under after her endorsement of a popular beauty buy saw it cleared from the supermarket’s shelves.

The mum to daughter True, two, swore by New Zealand brand Dose & Co’s collagen products when it came to battling postpartum hair loss, even becoming the product’s official face in October.

The brand sells collagen supplements in several forms including coffee additives and protein powder, a product the third Kardashian sister used when it came to recovering from pregnancy and childbirth.

Sold in Coles, and fetching $45 a pop, it seems the bright light of international reality celebrity has given the product an almighty running start.

On the back of Khloe being announced as an ambassador in October, the supermarket revealed that the brand’s sales ‘skyrocketed’.

A spokesperson told news.com.au that the brand’s sales had tripled as soon as Khloe was unveiled as an ambassador.

“Coles experienced the biggest week of Dose & Co sales to date,” they said, adding: “Coles sold triple the amount of units compared to any week in September.”

The product is only available in Coles for Aussie customers looking to buy in-store, though from all reports getting your hands on these bad boys may not be so straightforward as shoppers rush to snap them up.

Khloe has spoken openly about using collagen to fight some of the trickier parts of post-pregnancy, including hair loss and pregnancy acne as her hormones adjusted.

“I breastfed but not for a really long time because I had difficulty breastfeeding,” the sister told US publication Shape. “After, my hair was really thinning. It was falling out a lot and I noticed I had a bunch of, I guess 'pregnancy acne,' because all my hormones were changing.”

She said once she tried the collagen supplements she saw a remarkable difference.

“I noticed a difference in my hair and my skin cleared up," she told the publication. “I would say within 30 days I noticed a significant difference from incorporating collagen supplements into my daily routine.”

The brand currently sells flavoured collagen ‘creamers’, designed to be added to coffee, for $44.99 a box. For the gym-goers a collagen whey powder can be picked up for $49.99, or a no-frills unflavoured collagen powder is also an option for $44.99.

Meanwhile, the brand’s famous face has been on the receiving end of some controversy of late, thanks to sister Kim’s lavish, and some argued out of touch, 40th birthday held on an island in the midst of the global coronavirus pandemic.

She herself contracted COVID-19 as revealed in a Keeping Up With The Kardashians teaser, which showed her bedridden with the illness while her family awaited her positive test results.
