KFC opens first-ever pub serving beer and fried chicken

KFC has opened its first ever pub, where football fans can enjoy the World Cup while knocking back pints and chowing down on the brand's signature fried chicken.

The Colonel's Arms opened November 25 in Hammersmith, London, and will be serving up fried favourites, specially brewed craft beer and football until December 1.

Launched to promote KFC's delivery service, the venue is marketed as a traditional British pub promising an unmatched football viewing experience for eager fans during the World Cup.

Customers will also be provided with a personal delivery bell that will queue another fresh batch of chicken for prompt table service, but the pub will be open for one week only.

The pub's "landlord", former England midfielder Jimmy Bullard, said in a statement: "It's class when the three things I love - football, fried chicken and the pub - come together. What a blinder to be asked by the absolute legends at KFC to be the official landlord for KFC Delivery's first-ever pub. You can get your KFC delivered straight to your table and the perfect spot to enjoy pints and football with your mates."

KFC pub goes viral

TikToker @letseatjim attended The Colonel's Arms at the weekend and shared his experience to the platform, amassing more than 1.7 million views. The video shows "bucket aged" cider on tap, table service for fried chicken, darts, pool tables and a range of other British pub staples, along with Jim knocking back a pint and throwing a few darts for good measure.

Reactions to the video have been mixed, with some viewers pointing out they'd rather patronise their local establishment than one run by a fast food giant, and others questioning the combination of beer and fried chicken.

"I'd rather give custom to local pubs than a franchise like KFC," wrote one viewer, while another commented, "KFC and beer is the worst combo ever though."

Other Brits were thoroughly chuffed with the spectacle, only disappointed the pop-up pub would close after seven days. "It's only open for 1 week," cried one KFC fan, and someone else added, "@kentuckyfriedchicken you really know the way to a Brit's heart - beer and chicken."
