NEW VICTORIAN CASES

* Victoria recorded 11 new cases, including four of the more infectious Delta strain that is dominant in India

* The new Delta cases are three children and an adult, connected to an outbreak that began in West Melbourne and now totals 14 cases

* Another four cases involve the Kappa variant, linked to an outbreak that began in the City of Whittlesea and now totals 32 active cases in Whittlesea and 31 in Port Melbourne

* The remaining three cases are linked to an outbreak of the Kappa variant at the Arcare Maidstone aged care facility in Melbourne's northwest

* The outbreaks have forced more than 5800 people into isolation

* There are now 81 local active cases, plus 13 in hotel quarantine

* Authorities are re-examining genetic data from previous virus cases across Australia to try to determine how the Delta variant spread

* It may have spread from hotel quarantine, or from a traveller allowed to quarantine at home

FOOD AND SUPPORT PACKAGE

* $30 million package for food and support payments to lockdown-affected Victorians

* It includes $13.5 million to boost emergency support for undocumented migrants and people on temporary visas, $12 million for communications with multicultural communities and $4.5 million for food relief organisations

MELBOURNE LOCKDOWN STATUS

* Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton said Melbourne's lockdown was on track to end just before midnight on Thursday and ruled out an immediate return to relaxed restrictions.
