Kate Middleton's nod to Princess Diana in royal photo
They’re the family photos that made royal fans all over the world swoon and Kate Middleton has made them even more special by giving a subtle nod to Princess Diana in her choice of outfit.
The 36-year-old Duchess of Cambridge was pictured wearing a stunning polka dot Alessandra Rich midi dress, which was previously seen on Meghan’s friend, Abigail Spencer at the royal wedding.
And while we all thought Kate was simply keeping with the blue and white theme going on in the pictures, it turns out her dress holds a significant meaning.
Prince Wiilliam and Prince Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, actually wore a near-identical dress to Kate’s back in 1985, when she was pictured with her lady in waiting and private secretary, Anne Beckwith-Smith.
Princess Diana wore a long-sleeved polka dot dress, with shoulder pads and a dramatic white collar.
It isn’t the first time Kate has paid homage to Princess Diana in her outfit choice.
After the Duchess gave birth to Prince George five years ago, she appeared on the steps of the Lindo wing wearing a blue and white polka dot dress, a very similar outfit to the one Princess Diana wore after she gave birth to Prince William.
Kate Middleton also channeled Princess Diana’s style when she donned a headscarf in Kuala Lumpur which was similar to Princess Diana’s outfit choice on a visit to Pakistan in 1996.
The photos released yesterday, which were taken by photographer, Chris Jackson, back in September, were in honour of Prince Charles’ 70th birthday.
Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, could be seen sitting on a bench with five-year-old Prince George and three-year-old Princess Charlotte.
Behind them Prince William could be seen beaming, while his wife, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, held on tight to their precious six-month-old baby boy, Prince Louis.
One photo shows the whole family laughing at something in the distance, with Meghan Markle bent over. Camilla pointing out something to Princess Charlotte and Prince George giggling with his mouth open.
