'Furious' Kate Middleton 'feels exhausted and trapped' since Megxit

It’s been a rollercoaster year for the royal family, with Prince Andrew being stepped down following his alleged involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein sex scandal and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announcing they were upping sticks and breaking free from The Firm.

The Queen is currently is isolation at Windsor Castle and last week it was announced that she has put her royal duties on hold indefinitely, meaning it’s time for the younger generation to step up.

While there's no doubt Kate Middleton and Prince William have been preparing themselves for a more prominent role in the family for years now, in anticipation of the Duke of Cambridge becoming king one day, it appears they may not have been ready to take things up a notch this soon.

According to a royal insider, Kate Middleton is ‘furious about the larger workload’, with the source telling Tatler that while the Duchess may be dressing up and smiling on camera, she’s actually seething inside.

“She feels exhausted and trapped. She’s working as hard as a top CEO, who has to be wheeled out all the time, without the benefits of boundaries and plenty of holidays,” the source said.

They went on to call Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ‘selfish’ for abandoning the family and leaving all the hard work up to Kate and Wills, after they moved to LA to become ‘more independent’ of the royal family.

“William and Catherine really wanted to be hands-on parents and the Sussexes have effectively thrown their three children under a bus. There goes their morning school runs as the responsibilities on them now are enormous,” the source continued.

Indeed, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have appeared to become more open with their lives since coronavirus lockdown began.

Along with sharing pictures of their children, Prince George, six, daughter Princess Charlotte, five, and two-year-old son Prince Louis, on Instagram, they also uploaded a video of the whole family clapping for healthcare workers outside their home in April.

Much like the rest of the world, the Cambridges have been working over Zoom, with Kate even being interviewed on ITV's This Morning talk show about the launch of Hold Still.

Meanwhile, Prince William revealed last week one of the most difficult parts of parenting.

Speaking on a video chat with UK youth charity the PEEK Project, the dad to George, Charlotte and Louis revealed that like so many parents quarantining with their children, he and Kate Middleton struggle with their young brood at times.

Chef Charlie Farrally conducted the interview, and asked William if he related to his least favourite time of day.

“You'll know yourself — the hardest time is dinnertime,” the chef said, to instant agreement from the Prince, though with a caveat.

“Depends on what's on the table, though, Charlie," the prince said.

“If the parents put on something that the children love, dinner time goes very well. But, if you put something on the table they don't want to do, that's another ball game.”
