Karl Stefanovic's on-air blunder

Karl Stefanovic has been in the television business for over 20 years, but it seems even he’s still prone to the odd slip-up from time to time.

Whilst ripping into actor Hugo Weaving’s recent comments about why he wouldn’t be attending the 2018 Logie Awards, Today host Karl made a bit of a blunder.

Instead of calling the Lord of the Rings star out by his name ‘Hugo’ the presenter instead said, “What? Dude, Hugh.”

What? Dude, Karl. You mean, Hugo right?

Karl had to be awkwardly corrected by co-hosts Richard Wilkins and Georgie Gardner, whilst he tried to continue on his rant.

But, as with any slip-up, it’s difficult to get back into your stride afterwards. Awkward.

“The Logies are also recognition for the hard work of those who work in a great industry that entertains all Australians,” the 43-year-old said.

Karl’s rant was in response to Hugo’s comments about the Logies, after he said he won’t be attending.

“They (the awards) are just promotional tools for TV channels themselves,” he told The Daily Telegraph.

“I don’t like awards because I am generally being used by someone else to try to promote their thing.”

We wonder if he’d having anything to say to Karl about calling him Hugh.
