'He’s getting smashed': Karl Stefanovic takes a swipe at brother Peter
They’re known to roast each other playfully at every opportunity they can get and now Karl Stefanovic has taken another hilarious swipe at his younger brother, Peter.
Speaking on Nova 96.9 Fitzy & Wippa show, Karl was chatting about his new web show The Weekly Tonight, a new spoof talk-show on the Today show host’s Instagram account, when the hosts asked him how Peter and his wife, Sylvia Jeffreys are coping in isolation with their new son, Oscar.
“Well I don’t really talk to Pete any more, our relationship has sort of disintegrated a little bit now that he’s working for the opposition, on that channel that no one watches,” Karl said jokingly, referring to Peter’s co-anchor role on Sky News Australia’s breakfast program First Edition.
“Here they are they’re covering the worst story in the history of the world so we get to talk very very little because he’s under the pump at home as well! As soon as he gets home he’s on nappy duties. He’s getting smashed!”
After a couple in India named their newborns ‘Covid’ and ‘Corona’ over the weekend, the hosts asked Karl if he and wife, Jasmine Yarbrough, would consider something similar for their baby.
“Well I do like that! It’s a very heated discussion with the names, I don’t wanna go into it but I’m not winning at the moment,” Karl said.
Peter has previously called his big brother the “biggest star in Australia” proving he’s one of Karl’s biggest supporters.
Speaking to news.com.au about the roasting Tom Gleeson gave Karl at the 2019 Logies awards show, Peter said it was ‘funny’ and that ‘Karl was always gonna cop it’.
“But what it showed is we really miss him, people enjoy seeing him back on camera. He’s a great entertainer, he should be on the box regularly,” Peter said at the time.
“Even I enjoy seeing him back. I missed him.”
