Karl Stefanovic 'concerned' about running into ex-wife at Logies
For many exes, there are few prospects more toe-curling than running into a former flame on a night out.
But this feeling is no doubt amplified if your split is as high profile as Karl Stefanovic and Cassandra Thorburn’s, who separated in 2016 after 21 years of marriage.
While the pair have largely steered clear of each other since divorcing, reports mounted this week both billed to attend the Logie Awards on Sunday.
Moving in the same circles
Karl’s reported fears were publicised by Sydney Confidential on Thursday, who claimed the 2011 Gold Logie winner was ‘concerned’ he would bump into his ex at TV’s night of nights.
The speculation follows Cassandra’s recent TV comeback which included a Dancing With The Stars stint before landing an on-air gig with Studio 10.
Meanwhile Karl has stayed largely offscreen since being famously dumped by Today in December, but continues to hold his own as one of the industry’s biggest names.
No show
According to Cassandra, she and her ex, who married Jasmine Yarborough six months ago, will be able to avoid each other for a while longer - after confirming her absence from the awards show.
She told Confidential she is not a regular panellist on Studio 10, and therefore not attending. “I used to go because Gold Logie winners get two tickets for life,” she reportedly said.
Jasmine is expected to be at Paris Fashion Week with her shoe brand Mara & Mine this weekend instead of dropping by the Gold Coast-held awards show.
However Karl is widely-slated to make a Logies appearance ahead of his return to the silver screen as host of Nine’s This Time Next Year.
The comeback follows calls from fans to reinstate the 14-year Today veteran back into his old gig amid continually plunging ratings.
He will remain employed at this network until at least the end of 2019 as part of a rumoured $3 million a year contract.
