Mechanic contradicts Karen Ristevski's husband's claim her car had faulty fuel gauge
A mechanic who worked on the car of murdered Melbourne woman Karen Ristevski has made claims contradicting evidence given by her husband.
The 47-year-old mother's body was found in February, 2017 in bushland in Mt Macedon, about an hour’s drive northwest of the city after vanishing on June 29.
Her husband, Borce, who has denied being involved in his wife's death, claimed after her Mercedes-Benz SLK 200 was spotted driving in Mt Macedon when she disappeared, that he had taken the car for a test drive to test a faulty fuel gauge.
Mr Risteveski told detectives he had driven the car on June 29 to test that gauge until a bump in the road caused the fault to correct itself.

A Keilor East mechanic has now reportedly told detectives in all his time servicing the car, neither Mr Ristevski nor his wife had ever asked him “to fix any faulty fuel gauge”.
“I told the detective, in the last three years I haven’t touched that car and he’s (Borce) never asked me to fix any faulty fuel gauge,” the mechanic told the Herald Sun.
“In all my time working on Mercedes-Benz cars, I’ve never come across this type of problem before.”

There is a huge significance being placed on the black Mercedes in the investigation after it was captured on CCTV being driven through Diggers Rest, towards Mt Macedon on the same day Mrs Ristevski disappeared.
Earlier this month police used a black Mercedes to recreate the journey between their Melbourne home and the location her body was found.
Just after 1.30pm on Wednesday investigators arrived with the Mercedes about 100 metres away from the bushland crime scene.
Investigators made the return journey along Mt Macedon Road before getting on to Calder Freeway and heading south towards Melbourne.
