'Loving larrikin' killed after car rolls on sand dune

A 24-year-old man has been remembered as a “loving larrikin” after he was killed when his four-wheel drive rolled just north of Perth last month.

Joshua Hinton was killed while driving on sand dunes near Green Head on September 28.

WA Police said in a statement it appeared the Nissan Patrol was driven up and over the top of a sand dune, into a deep decline.

“The vehicle appears to have landed or become dug into the sand dune about halfway down, causing it to roll onto its roof,” police said.

The vehicle stopped at the bottom of the decline, which was a height of about 30 metres.

Police said Mr Hinton died at the scene while a 21-year-old passenger was flown to Royal Perth Hospital.

In the wake of the tragedy, the family of Mr Hinton are now trying to raise money to cover the funeral costs.

“Josh was a kind, loyal, loving larrikin with a heart of gold,” a GoFundMe page said.

“Nothing was ever too much to ask him whether it be helping a mate change a tyre or towing a complete stranger out of a sticky situation.”

According to the GoFundMe, Mr Hinton had an “undeniable love for anything with an engine and wheels” and he could always be found fixing a car.

“His smile lit up the room and his laugh was contagious and our lives will never be the same again.”

The GoFundMe was set up on October 6 and has already raised almost $7,000.

The fundraiser is filled with condolence messages from friends of Mr Hinton and his family.

“RIP bro you will be deeply missed,” a friend wrote.

“Cheers for all the great times and the many laughs and for always being a real, kind-hearted and an all around great bloke.”

“Josh was taken too soon in life but will never be forgotten,” another person wrote.

“Many memories of laughter we will cherish.”
