Joe Kelly's suspension for throwing at Astros' batters reduced to five games
The suspension of Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Joe Kelly has been reduced from eight games to five games, the Dodgers confirmed Wednesday afternoon.
Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Joe Kelly, who was suspended for eight games for throwing at Houston Astros batters, had his ban reduced to five games on appeal, sources tell me and @kileymcd.

Kelly, who was placed on the 10-day injured list with shoulder inflammation, received his original eight-game suspension after throwing pitches near the heads of Houston Astros sluggers Alex Bregman and Carlos Correa during a game on July 28.
Kelly also taunted Correa after striking him out, which nearly incited a bench-clearing altercation.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was suspended one game as a result of the incident. Astros manager Dusty Baker was fined for confronting and criticizing the umpires before and after the game.
This isn’t the first time Kelly has been suspended for throwing at an opponent. With the Boston Red Sox in 2018, he was suspended six games for hitting Tyler Austin in retaliation for a controversial slide.
After being suspended this time, Kelly immediately launched an appeal. His case was heard on Monday. Kelly will begin serving his suspension once he’s activated from the injured list.
