Jesy Nelson leaves Celebrity Bake Off viewers ‘horrified’ with long fake nails

Jesy Nelson left Celebrity Bake Off fans “horrified” by her bizarre decison to wear fake nails to compete on Sunday night’s show.

The singer, 31, appeared alongside Friends star David Schwimmer, comedian Rose Matafeo and actor Tom Davis in the tent to kick off the special series in aid of Stand Up To Cancer.

But Nelson’s limited baking skills were even more hindered by her choice of very long talons, which even led to judge Prue Leith having to step in to help.

Unimpressed viewers took to Twitter to voice their concern that the nails were not only an impractical choice, but were also an issue when it came to food hygiene.

“I think it’s pretty gross that Jesy Nelson is digging those fake nails into the food.

“If I were the judges I wouldn’t test her food. Ew,” one tweeted.

“Did nobody advise Jesy Nelson in advance of appearing on Bake Off about what she’d actually be doing on the programme? The state of those talons!” wrote another.

Someone else added: “Jesy Nelson’s hair and nails are giving major health hazard in this Stand Up To Cancer episode of British Bake Off.”

While a fourth commented: “It’s just nasty and impractical to wear long fake nails to cook or bake. I’m horrified. She just loves attention.”

“Great British Bake Off: get celebrities with long hair to tie it back! Jesy constantly flicking hers (along with her nails) are ridiculous,” another added.

Another wrote sarcastically: “Nails that render you completely useless. That’s a great idea!”

Viewers were also quick to point out that Nelson kept mispronouncing the word “macaron” and only baked three of the sweet treats in total.

The backlash even prompted the official Bake Off social media account to share a post to “clarify" the difference between macaroon and macaron.

The show was the first in the new series, which aims to raise vital funds to help fund cancer research and support services.
