Jennifer Hawkins has revealed she was ‘so scared’ to get pregnant after experiencing a miscarriage last year.

The former Miss Universe Australia made the candid admission in an interview with Stellar, conducted just weeks before she’s due to give birth to her first child.

In the chat Jen, 35, opened up about losing her first pregnancy in its early stages, a tragedy which led to the ‘toughest year’ of her and husband Jake Wall’s lives.

But when the longtime couple found baby joy through a second pregnancy the businesswoman turned mum-to-be admits she was initially crippled by fear.

“I felt like I almost broke and, in fact, it’s still really raw. But Jake was amazing. He let me sit with the pain, feel it and not be OK,” she told the publication.

“When we went to see the heartbeat scan for our little girl, it was the most incredible, overwhelming feeling because prior to that we were so scared.”

And while the pair are now in the midst of excited anticipation as they prepare to welcome a daughter, just one year ago things couldn’t have been more different.

After experiencing what felt like a ‘lifetime’ of difficulty before becoming pregnant, Jake and Jen’s initial go at baby joy was snatched before they even had a chance to celebrate.

During a scan the couple were told Jen had experienced a miscarriage, in whar she described was a ‘difficult way to find out’.

In May this year, the couple who married in 2013, revealed they are expecting their first child, a baby girl, via Instagram in May.

“I’m sooo happy to share with you some exciting news! Jake and I are expecting a baby girl!!!” Jen told her social media followers. “We can’t wait to meet her!”

“Thank you to our beautiful family and friends for their love and support and, most importantly, to my hubby Jake – I can’t wait to see you as a Daddy! @jakewwall xx.”
